O Ano Internacional do Planeta Terra (AIPT), proclamado pela Organização das Nações Unidas, é um evento que durará 3 anos (2007-2009) para mostrar como as diversas ciências do planeta poderão ajudar as futuras gerações a enfrentar os desafios de assegurar um mundo mais seguro e próspero. O AIPT é uma iniciativa conjunta da União Internacional das Ciências Geológicas e da UNESCO, implementado através da ciência e de programas de assistência.
The International Year of Planet Earth (IYPE), proclaimed by the United Nations, is a 3-year event (2007-2009) to demonstrate the exciting ways in which Earth sciences can help future generations meet the challenges of ensuring a safer and more prosperous world. IYPE is a joint initiative of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) and UNESCO and will be implemented through both Science and Outreach Programmes.
