Ordesa - Spain Espanha

The Pyrénées – Mont Perdu is a World Heritage site straddling the border between Spain and France in the Pyrenees mountain chain. The site includes two bordering national parks: the entire Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park in Spain and the eastern part of Pyrénées Occidentales National Park in France. The summit of Monte Perdido is on the Spanish side of the border. The city of Ávila contains all the necessary elements to express its Outstanding Universal Value: the fortified walls, the intra-muros city, and the significant extra-muros churches - all representative elements of the medieval city; together with the monuments of the 16th century, which represent the ‘Golden Age’ of the city. Following World War II, the French military administration in Allied-occupied Germany organized the territory of Saar as a Protectorate. After the 1955 Saar Statute referendum, the territory joined the Federal Republic of Germany as a state on 1 January 1957. The  stamp celebrates the 50th anniversary of the statehood.

Após a Segunda Guerra Mundial, a administração militar francesa na Alemanha ocupada pelos Aliados organizou o território do Sarre como um Protetorado. Após o referendo sobre o Estatuto do Sarre de 1955, foi decidido que o território se juntaria à República Federal da Alemanha como um estado em 1 de janeiro de 1957. O selo celebra o 50º aniversário da constituição do estado.

Portugal

From Évora, Pedro has sent me another amazing postcard. The city downtown still preserves the vestiges of several ancient civilizations and cultures (Celts, Romans, Arabs, Jews and ancient Christians) and in the15th century, it became the residence of the Portuguese royalty. And we know that the city's architecture influenced the constructions during Brazilian colonial era. The postcard depicts the Giraldo square and its famous fountain. Thank you, Pedro!

O Pedro enviou-me outro postal incrível, desta vez diretamente de Évora. A cidade ainda preserva, na sua área central, vestígios de várias civilizações e de culturas antigas (celtas, romanos, árabes, judeus e cristãos antigos) e, no século XV, ainda tornou-se residência da realeza portuguesa. E sabemos que a arquitetura da cidade influenciou bastante as construções durante o período do Brasil colonial. O cartão postal retrata a Praça do Giraldo e o seu famoso chafariz. Portugal

In the 19th century, the Pena Palace, at Sintra, has become a major example of european romantic architecture. King Ferdinand II turned a ruined monastery into a summer palace using Gothic, Egyptian, Moorish and Renaissance elements and creating an immense garden that influenced the development of landscape architecture across Europe. The entire palace area has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. No século XIX, o Palácio da Pena, em Sintra, tornou-se um exemplo maior da arquitetura romântica europeia. o rei Fernando II transformou um mosteiro em ruínas em um palácio de verão com o uso de elementos góticos, egípcios, mouros e renascentistas e na criação de um imenso jardim que influenciaram o desenvolvimento da arquitetura paisagística em toda a Europa. Brasil - Brazil

O mais novo bloco emitido pelos Brasil sobre a Serra do Japi. Área de proteção ambiental no estado de São Paulo, é considerada pela Unesco Reserva da Biosfera do Cinturão Verde da Cidade de São Paulo. Nos selos estão representados o pássaro Saíra-amarela (Tangara cayana cayana) e a borboleta Consul fabius drurii. Também, impresso no bloco, está a logomarcaque faz referência ao Ano Internacional do Planeta Terra, evento instituído pela Unesco. The newest brazilian miniature sheet is about the Serra do Japi park, an Unesco Biosphere Reserve at Sao Paulo state. On the stamps we can see the bird Saíra-amarela (Tangara cayana cayana) and the butterfly Consul fabius drurii. Also printed on the miniature sheet, the symbol of the International Year of the Planet Earth, started by Unesco.

Infelizmente, estou sem muito tempo para atualizar meu blog. Mas, hoje, recebi este cartão filipino: Igreja de San Agustin, Patrimônio da humanidade. Mostrando a influência da arquitetura espanhola nas ilhas Filipinas.

Algo especial no dia do meu aniversário: meu primeiro cartão africano, da África do Sul, Ilha Robben, Patrimônio da Humanidade - Unesco. Esta foi a prisão de segurança máxima onde Nelson Mandela ficou encarcerado, antes do fim do apartheid.

Something special on my birthday: my first african card, from South Africa, Robben Island - Unesco WHS. It became infamous as a jail for political prisoners under apartheid, notable Nelson Mandela.

Esta é a arquitetura típica dos vales de Valparaíso, Chile. Infelizmente, no começo deste ano muitas casas do centro histórico foram destruídas e muitas pessoas morreram devido a um grande incêndio
This is the typical architecture in the Hill's of Valparaíso, Chile. Unfortunately, part of the historical city centre were destroyed by the fire, killing several people, on February 3rd.
